Can You Help

The Western Australian Explorers' Diaries Project (incorporating the Historical Records of Western Australia) is an important undertaking in the written heritage of Western Australia.  The project is 'one that is of significance to the Nation'.

The volumes produced by the Project are published under the title of Western Australian Exploration. Each volume is further described.

We earnestly ask for the loan (for copying) of photographs, etchings, paintings, diaries, ephemera, journals, record books or any other material relating to exploration in this great State of ours.

Do you have any material relating to these explorations or explorers that you would be willing to loan for copying?

Please be assured that we have consulted the resources of the Battye Library, the WA State Reference Library, the National Library, the Mitchell Library, the Scholars’ Centre UWA and the State Records Office before making this request.  IT IS 'LOCAL INPUT' THAT WE ARE SEEKING. Diaries, notebooks and photographs relating to exploration that may be in your possession are especially wanted

Should you be able assist or should you wish to find out more about the Project please contact the Project Co-ordinator.

The Explorers’ Diaries Project has received no funding from government or agencies such as the Arts Council or Lotteries Commission (apart from a grant for a portion of print costs for the 1826-1835 Volume from the Heritage Council of WA).  The Explorers' Diaries Project is not a government agency.  We are receiving co-operation from Landgate in relation to access to records (please note that this co-operation is available to all members of the public).  The publisher, Hesperian Press, is run by a non-profit Foundation.  Members of the Committee are volunteers and are not paid for their services.  We have taken on a big task and one that will be complete only if we receive co-operation from all sections of the community who have the information.
