05-Proofreading March 2015

Proofreading historical documents is entirely different from proofreading contemporary writing.

The Proofreaders’ task is to make sure that the transcript, prepared by the typist or OCR, is true to the text in ‘the manuscript'(which, for WAEDP’s purposes is A3 printout).

This Guidelines explains the process of proofreading including Editorial Interventions, and Marking Up the Transcript.
